Our History

The Grunwald Swords are a pair of unadorned swords sent as a taunting "gift" by Ulrich von Jungingen, Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, to King Władysław II Jagiełło of Poland and Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania. Delivered on July 15, 1410, just before the Battle of Grunwald (Tannenberg), the swords symbolized a challenge to battle. Accepting the challenge, Vytautas and Jagiełło defeated the Teutonic Knights and the majority of the Teutonic Order's leadership was either killed or captured.

The pair of simple swords, our brand, is a formal challenge to all those companies who produce Lithuanian themed apparel and merchandise that mindlessly slather Lithuania’s flag and colors onto the cheapest fabric and plastic they can find for max profit.
